Welcome to my online portfolio – I am a digital artist currently working and living in San Francisco, CA. I'm starting to work on making this site the staging ground for all my future creative endeavors: digital work, personal art, as well as my ridiculous music opinions. And sometime in the future, actual attempts at music. You can browse my work in my portfolio (of course), and if amatuerish music opinions interest you, check out my music page as well.
While I could give you a synopsis of my life, let's leave it at what's important here: I've worked as a professional designer since I was 18, and enjoy working through a variety of graphic mediums to achieve various end products, whether that be web and print design, interactive/user interface design, motion graphics and video editing, 3D animation and modeling. While I'm more of an artist, happen chance has thrown me into coding as well, and as a result, I'm well-versed in actionscript, semantic CSS and XHTML, and various other languages to make my graphics organic.
More the rantings of a jaded twenty-something than anything. Check back periodically for my odd observations of the world at large. Entries tend to be realllllly short.
I was thinking today that people in my kind of profession (graphic designers, 3D Artists, etc.)are probably the truest forms of "power users" in any industry. Someone should conduct a usability test on US and creative some ridiculous software that completely caters to it. I've never used Autodesk Inferno, but I bet it's something along those lines...
On an unrelated note, I feel like I accomplished a lot last weekend, and I'm watching Total Recall right now. I love watching the governor of my state almost embarrass himself in those ridiculous 80's movies. A movie where he's actually named Matrix? Ahhh, I love California.
Since the beginning of the year, I've been getting back into my groove of consuming as much music and film as possible. According to last.fm, I listen to roughly 1000 songs a week, and I've been trying to make at least half of those new material. My current theory is that, because I make playlists with chosen singles from the albums I download, and listen to them immediately, by the time I'm searching for more music I'm already bored with the latest. SO, if I create playlists that I DON'T listen to, then stagger them so that I'm always one behind, I'll always be immersed in "new" material...makes sense to me. Somehow, I imagine this is a somewhat unique problem.
That being said, I've probably got about 2500 new songs in the past two weeks. And the good news is, most of them are good...2009 is looking nothing but good on the music horizon. I would recommend bands, but honestly, who the hell even reads my "blog?"
I thought this Valentine's Day was going to suck like most, but it actually turned out very nicely...watched the enormous pillow fight at 6 (did not participate, sadly), ate here with some friends, and went to Candy Bar to celebrate two birthdays and the lesser-important, Hallmark created holiday (Candy Bar only serves desserts!). Sunday Lark and I met with another friend in town from Reno and went to 21st Amendment, for the awesome watermelon wheat beer and fish and chips. And today, for the glorious third day of the weekend, I'm watching season 2 of the Office...and about to make tea. Good weekend :)
Lazy Sunday, cleaned a lot. I am NOT watching the superbowl, so whatever. But I am getting a lot done around the apartment.
Pretty stoked on the past week, busy as hell, but ended with a nice meeting. Also stoked on last.fm being able to scrobble what I listen to on my iphone, how sweet is that? That company knows wtf is up.
